Hybrid working


We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Bookkeeper within our Outsourcing team. We are a partner-led firm of chartered accountants, tax and business advisers with two offices in the heart of Bury and Manchester. The role will be based out of our Bury office.

We pride ourselves on being the perfect-fit partner for SMEs, particularly owner-managed businesses, with industry-leading expertise and a personalised approach when working with clients.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Support of provision of bookkeeping services
  • Entering clients’ accounts onto Sage or other appropriate bookkeeping system (in-house or on site)
  • Purchase ledger and sales ledger processing
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Accounts to trial balance
  • Monthly VAT returns meeting HMRC deadlines
  • Managing own portfolio of clients
  • Visiting clients as and when required to assist with book-keeping function (own car required)
  • Special one-off assignments for clients, i.e., training, problems and providing cover for emergencies

Personal Skills and Attributes

  • Bookkeeping experience (3+ years preferred)
  • Xero and Sage 50 experience preferred but not essential
  • Experience of DEXT or similar products desirable
  • Fully competent on excel and outlook
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written
  • Use of own initiative
  • Good team player
  • Highly organised and ability to prioritise own workload
  • Effective attention to detail
  • A degree of flexibility in hours worked to allow for travel to/from clients as and when required
