Bury Rough Sleepers Charity benefits from month of fundraising from local business

13 July 2015

Bury Rough Sleepers (BRS) have been inundated with donations and fundraising thanks to DTE Business Advisers, based in Bury.

Over the month of June DTE adopted Bury Rough Sleepers as their chosen charity, with fundraising and donations taking place every Friday.

This is a recurring operation for DTE who choose a local charity each month and pledge to raise funds and donations every Friday of that month.

Bury Rough Sleepers aim is to ensure that no one will sleep rough on the streets of Bury. Through partnership working they are dedicated to making sure that anyone identified as a rough sleeper will not have to sleep out for another night.

Following the June fundraising DTE handed over a food hamper worth £75 from the monetary donations, along with two sleeping bags, they also collected and handed over food throughout their four weeks.

Janet O’Rourke, Customer Involvement Officer for Bury Rough Sleepers said:

“We are truly humbled that DTE took the time to raise funds for the Rough Sleepers project, with every single item donated being put to good use. As the project works around the local area of Bury we are grateful for the support of this local business, and it will really help those in the community dealing with the difficulties of homelessness.”

Through dedicated drop-in sessions, clear referral routes, and robust outreach services, Bury Rough Sleepers aim to provide a rapid response to ensure appropriate solutions to rough sleeping are identified, and to offer person-centred support through joint working.
