DTE Takes on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks

14 May 2024

The countdown is officially on, with just 5 weeks to go until we take on our Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge!

On 23 June, members of our team will hike the 24 miles that encompass the three major peaks of the Yorkshire Dales; Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, setting themselves the tough goal to finish in under 12 hours!

L-R: Lewis Holt, Liam Hignett, Reece Kelley, Jake Noble

But they’re not only doing this to test themselves, or for the spectacular scenery, the main reason is to raise money for the incredible, MacMillan Cancer Support.

The team is led by Liam Hignett, Audit Executive, and consists of Jake Noble, Audit Manager, Charlie Nicholson, Lewis Holt and Reece Kelley, Audit Executives, and Lewis Turner, Accounts Senior.

To get ready for the big event, they have had 5 training walks, with another 2 to go. Initially, easing into it with 5 miles, increasing to 13.3 miles over the last week. The teams most recent walk was up Scafell Pike, which is the highest and most prominent mountain in England.

As typical with the British weather, they have also had to brave the wind, rain and fog!

Liam commented, “We are all really looking forward to the main walk, and the training walks have been a good laugh so far. Scafell Pike has been my favourite, mainly for the views of the Lake District but it was also the toughest challenge, by far. It took me a good few days to recover!

“The main thing I’ve learnt from this experience is that it’s actually tougher coming down a mountain than it is going up – I would never have believed that before we started training.

”If you would like to show your support and help encourage me and the team, you can donate here.”

We are really proud of them so far and we can’t wait to hear about their success with the Yorkshire 3 peaks!

Here are some of the gorgeous views the team have had on their training walks, so far!
